Paleo Meal Planning On A Budget

Elizabeth McGaw, the author and blogger of Paleo On A Budget just released her second book, Paleo Meal Planning On A Budget. I’ve been a follower of Liz’s blog for quite some time for one big reason: her blog caters to finding the affordability within the Paleo Diet. If you’re new to the Paleo Diet it’s easy to get turned off because let’s face it, eating high quality foods just requires you to pay more. At Paleo On A Budget, Liz complies weekly store spececials from popular stores such as Sprouts, Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, and Kroger. On top of that, she also features some amazing recipes (many of which I feature in our weekly, health and fitness news. I was lucky enough to be offered the chance to get a sneak peak at the book before it was released and write a review on the book.

What I liked About Paleo Meal Planning On A Budget:

Let’s face it, meal planning can become tedious – and to me it even sounds a little boring. But when trying to work out grocery spending into your budget, it’s a necessary evil. Paleo Meal Planning On A Budget does an excellent job of providing examples on HOW to do Paleo…literally on a budget – in a very Dave Ramsey-esque budget planning type of way. Planning out meals can be a creatively daunting task but the examples that this book has really goes a long way to make life more simple. Paleo Meal Planning On A Budget takes two approaches: 1. items to always have stocked up and 2. checking sales and building meals off of sales. The best part about the book: examples! That way you know what to do and how to mix meals up so your meals don’t get boring, say especially if you happen to find ten pounds of chicken on sale and have them stored up in your freezer. Paleo Meal Planning On A Budget also has a high level of relateability – as Liz shares with the readers her own personal examples of how she had to personally plan out paleo meals working with only a certain fixed amount of income (something I think a lot of us can relate to).

Who Paleo Meal Planning On A Budget Is For:

Honestly, everyone. With cost of whole foods and grain fed, free range meats being quite costly for those who are making the transition from a Standard American Diet to a Paleo Diet, the transition can seem quite costly. Really, if you go from spending thirty dollars a week on things like breads, pastas, and other cheap products, it’s can be quite a wallet shock to see your shopping spending increase. Liz does an excellent job of putting together cost saving tips into simple yet tasty weekly meal plans – recipes included in ways that will NOT break your wallet.

This book was honesty, perfect for someone like me. As far as I’m concerned, spending money on food is something I don’t care about too much. I like to think I work hard and I should be able to enjoy the fruit of my labor – in the form of food. My wife however, she’s not quite on the same page as me. The fruit of her labor comes in the form of some type of clothing. If I can find out more ways to put healthier food on the table while keeping costs lower, well, that’s a win win situation. If you’re at all interested in getting the most bang for your buck in the most creative and delicious ways – then Paleo Meal Planning On A Budget is for you.
