Time for our Workout Of The Month. Each month we take a look at a different exercise and break it down by movement, how to do it, and discuss some of the positive versus negative impact that it can have to you and your level of fitness. Some workout’s of the month breakdown how to do a common exercise, others feature a specific workout. This month I want to spread the word about to awesome outdoor challenges to help inspire your fitness and health in 2018.

Two Outdoor Challenges To Get Excited About In 2018

It’s (already) that time of year again – January. It’s the time of year where the majority of people reevaluate their fitness and health goals and use this time of year to get healthier and/or lose weight. Unfortunately, by the first day of March, most people have given up. If you’re looking for something a little different this year, I want to share two different challenges to help you get outside. Both challenges are completely rewarding and great for building your fitness levels as well as getting some fresh air.

1. The 52 Hike Challenge

52 week hike challenge, outdoor challanges

Popular in 2017 and extending to 2018 is the 52 Hike Challenge. This challenges encourages participants to get out there and take part in one hike a week. The hike can be any type of hike that you pick. You don’t necessarily have to do a hike each week as long as you do 52 hikes in a year span.

2.  The Six Pack Of Peaks Challenge

six pack of peaks, outdoor challenges

For those that are looking for something a little less time consuming, there’s the six pack of peaks challenge. In fact, I’m doing this challenge this year. This challenge started four years ago in Southern California and its premise entails hiking six of the tallest peaks in Southern California. Since the inception, the challenge has extended to peak challenges in the Colorado Rockies and also through Central Oregon. For 2018, the challenge is going to be extending to the Pacific Northwest, New England, and Utah.

These two outdoor challenges are my two favorite fitness challenges in 2018. Are there any others that you have heard about or are trying this year? Please share them in the comments below.
