Operation Gratitude Halloween Candy Buyback
Halloween can be a lot of fun, but if you’re anything like me, you’re not a fan of all the sugary snacks. You also might be wondering if there’s something you can do with all the leftover candy aside from eat it or throw it away. One option is that you could take it into your break room at work and pawn off the extra calories to your co-workers. Or you could check out Operation Gratitude’s Halloween Candy Buyback.
What The Halloween Candy Buyback Is About
The first Halloween Candy Buyback started in 2005 with the idea of getting candy off the streets. Shortly afterwards, Operation Gratitude, an organization that helps to send care packages overseas to serving military members, partnered with the Halloween Candy Buyback program. Each Halloween the program collects candy and ships it overseas to soldiers in a care package with a bunch of other amazing goodies. In 2014, over 401,000 pounds of candy were collected and shipped overseas to our soldiers.
How Does Operation Gratitude Work?
It’s very simple. You can collect all your hordes of leftover Halloween candy and you can either send it to a participant in your area. Or you can send in your care package yourself. If you’re so inclined, you can also send in additional items which are in need too: toothpaste, dental floss, and toothbrushes.
